The Independent Business Association (IBA) founded by Steve Wakeling has successfully over the last 12 years of engaging with Small Medium Enterprises (SME’S), to be the bridge between Businesses and Community particularly in the most disadvantaged areas of the East Midlands, and this impact has proven to be successful.
The Independent Business Association (IBA) actively promotes and develops the interest of the local businesses community in the Greater Nottingham area.
The IBA actively promotions and encourages opportunity for B2B trading between members of the IBA and to expand the organisation for the benefit of the membership and the wider community within the East Midlands.
To actively promote and support our members the I.B.A’s objectives:
- • Providing a local grass-roots up ‘voice’ and ‘vision’ for local businesses
- • To develop and increase inter-trading business opportunity
- • Enhancement of educational and training opportunities
- • Improvement in employment opportunities for young people
- • Promote racial, cultural and religious inclusion
The IBA support is linked to all the public authorities or service providers, to assist, help and sustain the local business community in Nottinghamshire; through direct engagement.

The IBA engages in open and objective dialogue for both business and the wider local community by building strong partnerships with appropriate organisations to provide a link for networking and the brokerage of services to its membership.
The expertise is further accepted by the broad range of businesses irrespective of market sector, type of business, ethnicity, gender, size, or capacity of business.
IBA has many business links, develop successful SMEs, face to face engagement with businesses, supporting businesses to work collaboratively to maximise business opportunities- IBAs involvement will bring additional value to impact on stronger business collaboration, providing direct employment routes and training opportunities and growth of SMEs and young local entrepreneurs.
